Once again, its the time in the year where the Form 5's leave us and head off to continue their still young lives, leaving us here to rise up and take their place. Well, i think all of us have the same wishes to our Form 5 seniors, that is, that they succeed in their next stage of life.

To the Form 5's, all the best in your SPM, and hope you all succeed in your next stage of life. Remember to come back and visit us once in a while. We'll always welcome you. Hope you enjoyed our gifts as well. :)

Hope the remaining PMO members can all work together and bring chui guan to greater heights. Remember that all that we do is not for ourselves, but for chui guan zhu, for PMO.

Dear juniors,

I would like to represent the fellow seniors to congratulate you people for working so hard right after the gruesome mid-term exams. While your fellow classmates were watching Pirates of the Carribean and Kungfu Panda, you all stayed in PMO Hall practising all day. For that, we are proud of every one of you and be rest assured that you have our gratitude.

It's the holidays so go enjoy yourself because there are more practices to come in the future. Work harder to improve yourself so that we can defeat our long term nemesis, 太平华联 and 槟华. By the way, I'm surprised 日新 and 三德 didn't make it / did not participate. But anyhow, great performance.

剑舞 : The best I have ever heard, refined and beautiful. Except for one part, I wanna strangle you for that, KIN CHIN HOW. Other than that, great improvement throughout the weekends! Cheers for Suo Na, thank you for not going off tune too much! And Sheng, you all did really great with the high's and low's without exploding (you make me so proud). Di Zi, beautiful as always.

Lord of the Dance : Silver is not bad considering you guys are just freshies! (Except for that old wrinkly Wei Loon :P) The reasons (IMHO) that you all did not make it to the finals were probably because the performance wasn't as refined as the others (as in 太爆) and 拍子走了一点点. Other than that, salute the Da Di in the beginning!

Keep it up, we are keeping an eye on you. Always.

wakakaka that wasn't a time i thought this blog will go dead. anyways, now its not (:

as you all know lah, seniors juniors alike, competition not far edi, say banyak banyak time edi, listen also sien edi, but seriously how many of us actually keep track of our progress?

okay lets do some counting.
today is 12th April. study lift starts end of april. so that leaves us, at most three times more of orchestral practise with mr.wong present. 3.
THREE.

so..this is new news.
to make sure we make progress for competition purposes, top 6 have made it compulsary for everyone to come AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK for practise. one day friday, one day saturday, and choose two days from monday to thursday. if 2 days is too much then you at least haveeee to choose one. if two days is too little then come everyday for practise we'll gladly appreciate it (:

How are you guys doing? everything seems to be going just the way it used to be. and that's why I miss it. eventhough I can't deny I enjoy my free weekends =D

Looking at the left bar at the side there <------- I didn't realise Jia Ni they all form 3 already D: so big! how come so fast one D: then then then how come Chuen Hong and Ruey Ying they all form 4 already one! lol. Not used to it yet la. But then I believe chui guan is doing well right? Convince me that you guys are :p

Another thing, remember that only with hardwork, one can succeed. To the new members, remember that to succeed in anything, you must take the first step. and you already did! I'm glad that you picked chui guan :D Learning process might be tough and tiring, but never give up :) when you're good at it, then only will you realise how much you love dizi :P or suona or sheng. :D :D coz nothing is fun when you're not good at it. right?

As for the seniors, young and old, do not loosen up on yourselves just because you think that you're already a senior, instead never ever forget your responsibilities not only to teach your juniors but to lead a good example and inspire them to keep going during their journey. Remember to behave well as a senior or else you might end up planting bad habits into your juniors.

Hehe...trying to post something...but nothing to post so i decided to post some info about Thaipusam....

Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). It is celebrated not only in countries where the Tamil community constitutes a majority, but also in countries where Tamil communities are smaller, such as Singapore and Malaysia. The festival is also referred to as Thaipooyam or Thaippooyam. The word Thaipusam is derived from the month name Thai and Pusam, which refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. There is a misconception among people that Thaipusam marks Murugan's birthday; however, it is believed that Vaikhasi Vishakam, which falls in the Vaikhasi month (May/June), is Murugan's birthday.

2010 to 2011!

Sorry i didn't post anything for the new year! But anyways school had start two weeks ago and im using this time as i am sick, to write about the start of this new year and the end of 2010 :)

In 2010, the biggest and greatest thing that happened to PMO and Chui Guan, was that we had successfully performed the seventh concert of our orchestra - 风雅颂。赋比兴。系列七之《拉萨行》. And up next on the list, which made me extremely happy, was that Chui Guan had such enthuastic new batch of little people, who have now grown into second formers. All juniors have also shown much loyalty to the orchestra, by keeping strong and persistent, when seniors were preparing for the concert, thus leaving the juniors a little behind. We hope the juniors don't mind as we were, honestly, busy, to make this concert a success. And i am proud to say, that Chui Guan has successfully made those, both the up-bringing of the juniors, and the orchestra's concert, a reality.

Exams have shown mre persistency and hardwork, not to forget, the determination of the youngs to perform at their very best. Many of you have done well, and you shall get what you deserve :D

As for 2011. The zuzhangs have recently held a meeting, a meeting to discuss the new start of teaching of Chui Guan. Especially for the form twos.
Here are some actually not so new rules (but lost rules) for the new year. FORM TWOS TAKE NOTE.

1) 教程进行中，seniors 不可自己闹玩，也不许跟新生闹玩，教程中只能有教书这个东西。（闹玩不代表不能开玩笑，闹玩代表你们男生时常像小狗一样在地上滚来滚去那种闹玩...)

2) Juniors 只被允许最多5分钟的休息时间，每次练习只被允许最多2次休息。休息只允许在华乐厅里（反正吹管能把水带进华乐厅里），最远只能去到楼下的厕所。

3) 每一位senior 在教程中一定要在，一个人在前面，其他人听。

4) 8.30 早上一定要到，无论是小的还是老的。调音以及粘笛膜。

5) make sure 9.00 早上小的已经准备好了。谱架，谱，地膜，音准等等。

6) 每一次练习都必须以基本功来开始。如：长音，吐音，五声音阶，七声音阶，双吐等等。基本功练好了才可以练歌。

7) 每一次练好了，如，完成一次的七声音阶，每一个在场的，无论是打拍子的，还是在听的，都得给评语以及点出他们的弱点，and 跟他们讲如何改变。

8) Form two 们，去年就失传了的簿子，请带回来。评语是你们去找senior或老师写的，不是 the other way around. 不要讲我们吃钱 -.-

Besides these new set of "not-so-new rules"... Here's a really new one that applies to EVERYBODY.

- Every absentees or late-comers or leaving early, MUST WRITE LETTER TO ANY OF THE ZUZHANGS. Absentees are responsible to inform their respective zuzhangs at least ONE DAY before the day to-be-absent, unless emergencies.

Anyways, this is this Friday's agenda:
- i want each and every junior de personal info :P (name, class, DOB, email, hp no, whether they have fb or not..haha :D)
- introduce yourselves!
- ask them to introduce themselves!
- interact AWHILE
- let them take D diao dizis from the di tong ( no dimo de)
- teach:
1) lip placement ( cross-shape placement method), try blow(open all holes first, dunid to cover any holes first)
2) how to hold the dizi
3) DAN TIAN.
4) if everyone can manage to produce sound, lian chang yin and emphasize on using dan tian li!
5) DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT, teach zhi fa yet :)

2010 has been a meaningful year for me, erm, when I started coming to PMO lar. xD I have so many seniors, got so many new friends in here, and of course, learnt a lot of new things, grew up a lot, haha.

The social life in PMO taught me to see the true face of everyone when I get to know them and get closer to them. The crazy chuiguan group taught me to be as hyper as them. xD

Erm.. I seriously have nothing to say.. So sorry Tan Chuen Hong. :P

Anyway, last year had been a blast for me, a good beginning of my secondary life, and a wonderful year. :)

First of all, I would like to congrats all the windies, who had came along with our blog. I'm so proud that this blog could be able to stay alive for near 2 years time. This blog is here, under the suggestion of Chun Hoe, our previous dizi leader, so he's just like the "mother" xD of this blog.

So, a new year has started, I would like to insist all windies to post a short paragraph, about your life in PMO for the year 2010. Perhaps this blog would always alive, until forever. Let us bring this blog, and for sure, wind to the higher peak, as peak performers!!!

As for us Form Threes who are going to claim our PMR results on the 23rd (so bad timing.. why right before Christmas Eve T.T), lets cross our fingers and wish and hope for the best! *hopefully*

Anyways... Not everyone was present for the theory exam which was held on the 18th.. Even so, i am disappointed to say that i am quite disappointed indeed for those who have aready sat for the exam... i have already marked your papers, and the results... eh hemm.. although the digits are similiar to those in the past years, but i thought u guys could do better. U guys are suppose to be mre guai than us T.T There were some questions,which were based on common sense and some based on xin sheng information (info for theory last year)... Oh well, whats past is already the past, ntg we can chg. Even so, for those who have not taken the theory exam, my marking will be mre strict as you were given mre and sufficient time to read up. As for those who have done all three (theory, practical, guan mo hui), use marching to pull your scores up.

OK. Time for urgency. Oh noooooooo! OD is coming!! How, u may ask, is that a bad thing? Well, for one, there is to be performance in our stations in PMO hall and i have forgotten to inform all about it. ehhem... *PAISEH*

The Overall Comments for PMO Exam(xin sheng)

Well, the exam is finally over. Here is my overall comment.

1)guan mo hui
Some of you did a great job, well done. BUT, there's someone who made me really disappointed, how dare you did such badly?? We, the seniors told n taught u, u must listen to seniors, because we are more experienced than u, no matter he/she is a pro senior or not. ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS. So what we taught u before? The score holder must at a suitable height, not too low just above your knee, n not too high above your eye. This will seriously affect your tai feng score. 2ndly, stand in a correct position, this is specially for PEH JIE CHEE, don move too much when u r performing, your body can move following the rhythm, but u r moving like earthquake. 3rdly, do not da pai zi with your leg, luckily you all didn't do that. Now is the comment for your songs. Those who did badly, you know yourself. Did you use your free time for practice?? I don't think so for some of you, even the most simple skills, like shuang tu, you can't even did it well. Didn't come for practice, didn't self-practice at home, so this is the product. Next, I need something which can impress me in the song, I don't need speed, remember this Derrick. It doesn't mean you are good when u can play very fast, it can make you worse in another way. Some of you can play the whole song nicely, but nothing special, it's just a song. So, you can see I praised someone although he/she doesn't play very well overall, but someone can't get my praise although overall is good. This is because I can listen to something impressing, in your skill, melody, the rhythm and so on.

Okay back to topic. First day guan mo hui dont have chui guan...so second day it is....

First reminder : Please please please and pleeeease don't ask someone else to purposely go on stage to flip to score for u. In real life du zou or biao yan thr ain't gonna be anyone thr to help u flip the score. if thescore is 3 pgs long, take either the first or last page and put it alongside the other pages. We provide clips. So if u're afraid that yr score will grow wings and fly away, ask for a few clips to make sure they don't x) Besides, Chuiguan de Guanmohui all in DK...no fan or wind to blow yr scores anywhr. And if yr score really flies due to who-knows-what reason, keep on playing. Kaoshi AJK will pick up the score for u, ok?

Second reminder : I don't know about the others, but Hong Liang's mistake was obvious... i have evidence; those who wanna see find me :D Althought this is ntg to celebrate about... just somehow glad that qiao managed to film it. Hahahah.. for those who are still blur, our only f2 guy was tapping his feet for tempo during Guanmohui. U guys should already know this is not allowed... Mainly because its not nice to see... Think about it, you don't see performers tapping their feet during a performance... During he zou, lets say the erhu start tapping their feet, what will the audience thk? Especially those who sit facing the audience, every move will be clearly seen. Dont thk we're Chuiguan, we sit on top during concerts so no one can see our feet so we can start tapping feet. NUH UHH -.- not allowed still.

Third reminder: Pu jia. Those who came on that particular Friday (fake Guanmohui) should already have been reminded or told. On every sheet of comments i wrote that day, sure gt a comment telling u guys to set the pujia in favour of yr height! Once u set the pu jia too short u start to tuo bei. #1 bu ya guan. Proper way to stand during blowing of dizi is to stand straight wiv your legs forming a "ba'. Left or right foot in front doesn't really matter. #2 When u start hunching your airways get blocked. "qi liu bu tong". Still got hor, if u set the pujia too high no one can see u edi, pujia cover yr face... no one can see you. One of the purpose of having guanmohui is to have ppl look at u when u play. If ppl can't see u then thr's no point having Guanmohui, right? Fortunately no one made this mistake *phewww*

Fourth reminder: Flute membrane. See the reason why i hope for you guys to come early? The 'membrane' has to get used to the environment before it can be used. If possible hor, come edi put bag in huayueting den straight away go to Dewan Kuliah. Just tell the Kaoshi AJK that u wanna diao dimo then they'll let u in. And after u're done with that, don't ever bring the dizi out again. Once its familiar with its environment, thr's no turning back.... bwahahahahahahah xD Or not, if u dun wanna bring the dizi in with the dimo, u might as well burst it and re-stick the dimo in Dewan Kuliah itself. And since thr's no water source nor is water allowed in Dewan Kuliah, the only way to do it is to use saliva *but definately not encouraged* 8D

Well, this is the first time I'm posting something here. Invited by Chuen Hong. Guess who I am. :P

The school exams are over, and PMO exams are around the corner. This year's 观摩会 is special, for those candidates on the first and second day will take the exam in DEWAN KULIAH!!! Whereas for the third day, it'll be at 华乐厅.

Seriously I don't really know what to post here. :( I sound like crapping.

So that's all for now. Why don't wait till PMO exam's over so I can crap more? Bwahahaha.

Hmmm i wonder how many members visit our blog?

JUNIORS :
anyways...PM*R trail is about overrrr...[yay] PM*R exam is about soon. And don't forget PM*O exams as well :P

We have no idea what songs we wanna 出, but since 陈捷老师 wants us to enter the solo competition, I say u practise solo pieces? ;)

For the form Ones this is the scope usually used every year... :

1) 观摩会 : For 观摩会, its basically u stand in front of the whole 团, and play :)

2)乐理 : Theory. Consisting of the general paper and 乐器 paper. Last term they had Sejarah Paper. Dunno this year stil gt nt. Hope not ba ;D

3) Practical : This is One-on-Two either in the 小房，鼓房，or 华乐室. Its one (you), and 考官 (组长 & 首席). Here, consisting of two songs, one 规定曲 & 自选曲. Then you have aural, sight reading and etc etc...

4) Marching : This one is done by 团长们, in this Bobo and Yi Yan :P

Just giving a head start... Thats all for now :)

Hello dear juniors,

After months and months of hard work, tomorrow is the day it will and shall pay off!
The process of preparing for the concert is full of sweat and tears, but we all know that its all worth it. Everything will go well tomorrow so don't worry guys (: relax. I know its abit ironic for me to say this to you guys when I myself am having butterflies in my stomach. pffft =]

Anyway, just do your best. I know that we have alot to worry about, we might mess up but just remember that we should never get nervous when anything goes wrong, stay calm and everything will be fine.

Last but not least,

Remember to keep your eyes on the conductor when you're on stage!

保卫黄河：
毛主席曾说中国革命市场出来的，而《保卫黄河》因具有广泛的群众性，成了抗日军民广为传播的一首歌曲。全曲采用了进行曲体裁、以短促跳动、振奋人心的音调、响亮的战斗口号、铿锵有力的节奏，以快速大跳的动机和逐步扩张的音型，使歌曲充满力量的感情，形象地刻画了游击健儿端起土枪洋枪、挥动大刀长矛，在青纱帐里、万山丛中，为保卫黄河、保卫全中国而战斗的壮丽场景。
通过弹拨乐的呈现，使歌曲显得明快、豪放，并具有浓厚的民族风格。这首歌曲巧妙地隐喻了抗日武装队伍，由弱到强，终于汇成了一支不可战胜的力量，也显示了英雄民族的伟大气魄。
Protect the Yellow River is the 3rd movement from the Yellow River Cantata and Concerto by Xian XingHai (1905 – 1945), a well known composer for patriotic songs during the Cultural Revolution and the invasion of the Japanese army.
The piece played by the Catholic High School Chinese Orchestra is specially edited from its original piano concerto to suite the orchestra. The bold, strong and agitated character of this piece depicts young warriors of the nation firing arms in battlefields and rough mountainous terrain to fend for their country.
The slower and broadening section of this piece sounds the people’s sentiment towards Chairman Mao, glorifying him in the lyrics of the Yellow River Cantata.

红娘子 - 剑舞：
北方汉族民间舞蹈，全曲以剑术的英武动作、韵律的优美，呈现出有搏击和抒情的气氛。杜甫描绘此舞：“燿如羿射九日落，矫如群帝骖龙翔。来如雷霆收震怒，罢如江海凝清光。”
剑舞舞姿潇洒英武，形式绚丽多彩，从动作变化上看，大体可分为“站剑”和“行剑”两大类。“站剑”动作迅速敏捷，静止时姿态沉稳利爽，富有雕塑感；“行剑”动作连绵不断，如长虹游龙，首尾相继，又如行云流水，均匀而有韧性。
Hong Niang Zi is a Peking opera series whereby the Sword Dance is an episode. Heavily influenced by the style of the Peking Opera, this song imitates the slang and intonation of the opera singers while picturing the movements of the sword dance.
The moves of the sword dance are mainly ‘ZhanJian’(Standing Sword) and ‘XingJiang’(Moving Sword). The moves of the Standing Sword are sharp and vigorous with abrupt pauses with a pose at the end of the phrase by the dancers whereas the Moving Sword moves are continuous and even yet persistent.

渔舟凯歌：
《渔舟凯歌》是一首鼓乐合奏。这首歌描述渔夫们在大海中捞获大量的收获。《渔舟凯歌》叙述渔夫刚出海时平静的风景，再加上朵朵的浪花随着起舞。它充分发挥了舟山锣复杂的演奏技巧，表达出人们忘我劳动的热情，最后又以舟山锣的高难度快速演奏作结束，有着极强烈的艺术效果。
The Jubilant Song of a FisherBoat is a percussion ensemble. It narrates a prosperous catch by fishermen fishing at deep sea.
The exposition portrays fishermen hard at work to set sail before the first beam of light penetrates the clouds.
The song develops into a calm mood when the fisherboat is anchored at deep sea, swaying with the waves. The scene of the vast sea that stretches far beyond the horizons is heard through the YunLuo.
As the fishermen haul in their catch, the song gently recapitulates, ending with the fishermen returning home in jubilant moods with their harvest.

拉萨行：
《拉萨行》是一首藏族风情的乐曲, 是关迺忠创作的一首四个乐章的民族管弦乐组曲。乐曲共分为四个乐章：布达拉宫、雅魯藏布江、天葬、打鬼。作曲家运用现代意识的复合节奏型混奏，渲染出這一火热而又神秘的气氛，当中亦有前三个乐章的主題隐现，以表现人们还在紧守着传统的灵念，最后乐队掀起狂热的高潮在祈福的热切中结束。
A Tour to Lhasa is a song written by a Guan Nai Zhong, a composer foreign to the land of Lhasa in Tibet. There are four movements to this piece: Potola Palace, Yarlung Zangbo River, Heavenly Burial and Beating Ghost. Guan Nai Zhong used the New Music approach to picture Lhasa, with clashing and opposing rhythms creating a fiery yet mysterious atmosphere. The theme of this song is conveyed in three of the movements, portraying the strongly inherited beliefs of the people in Lhasa.

• 第一乐章 “布达拉宫”
怀着虔诚的心，朝圣者向着布达拉宫匍匐前进。啊！布达拉宫高高伫立在玛布山上，层叠的宫宇映照着蓝天白云，是那么的伟大，神圣。一步一趋，宏伟的布达拉宫就在眼前了，神秘的号角声一阵阵传来，朝圣者满怀敬意，就快可以进寺膜拜祈愿了！
The pilgrim makes his way towards Potala Palace with sincerity. Ah, how grand and godly the palace stood! Situated on the Mabu hill, the towers of the palace reflects the blue sky and its white, whispy clouds. With every step the pilgrim takes, the magnificent palace grows larger. When a mysterious bare of a horn radiates from within the palace, the pilgrim’s heart filled with pleasure: he will soon be able to fulfill his pilgrimage!

• 第二乐章 “雅鲁藏布江”
雅鲁藏布江，她是藏民的母河。高山的融雪，汇集成河，奔腾在宽广的原野，藏人依偎着它生活。它源远流长，滋润着草原，滋润着藏民的心。
Yarlong Zanbo river is the heartbeat of the Tibetan’s life which originates from the melted snow of the Himalaya ranges. It started off in trickling streams, later expanding into a river which flows swiftly through lush green meadows. Yarlong Zanbo river flows far and wide, giving life to the grass of the meadows and bringing comfort and nourishment to the hearts of the people.

• 第三乐章 “天葬”
裹着白布的死者被送上了半山腰中的天葬台，山风呼呼地撕扯着四周的经幡，和着喇嘛们低低的吟咏声。秃鹰闻讯而来，在空中盘旋着，虎视眈眈。天葬师麻利将尸体肢解切块，把骨头捣碎，完后点燃一旁的桑烟。青烟穿上了天空，秃凰纷纷闪动着翅膀扑向天葬台，争食着骨团和肉块。死者的魂魄也随着被尸身食尽无遗而得到了升华，渐渐得升上了天空。
The deceased is wrapped in a white cloth and sent halfway up a mountain, where the funeral parlour is. The mountain wind howls loudly, accompanied by the soft chanting of the Lhamas (high priests). A bald eagle soars past, circling the air above the funeral procession, eyeing the carcasses with its piercing glare. The eagles snatched and fought for the bones and meat of the carcass. It is the belief of the Tibetans, that when the carcass of a deceased had been completely feasted upon, the soul of the deceased rises, slowly into the air, high above the clouds.

• 第四乐章 “打鬼”(宗教/习俗)
跳布扎，俗称‘打鬼’。农历正月末，一年一度的跳布扎拉开了序幕。头戴各种神，兽面具的喇嘛们，扬手，提足地环绕表演场地，各路神灵降临人间了！一组组具有专题内容的舞蹈陆续出场，有地狱小精灵们相互戏耍的 ‘骷髅舞’，为人间带来福禄，活泼可爱的‘鹿神舞’等。震撼人心的乐曲交织着信徒们的欢呼声，真是热闹无比。仪式在降伏恶鬼下顺利落幕，信徒们伏地叩拜迎来人间祥和与福顺。
Beating Ghost is an annual ritual performed by Lhamas at the end of the first lunar month. The Lhamas encircle the performing area in a dance with masks that represents the different gods, symbolizing the arrival of those gods to mingle among the people. The festive air is filled with songs of worship, mingled with the clatter and cheer of the people’s merry-making. The downfall of the Devil marks the end of this ritual, whereby followers kneeled to embrace peace and blessings.

一只鸟仔:
《一只鸟仔》是流传在台湾的一首儿歌。在两段歌词中，每段都采用了象声词来形容一种小动物的鸣叫声和神态，使得歌曲颇为生动有趣。歌曲为五声徽调式。音域在九度以内。全曲共四乐句，每句四小结。曲式属于典型的“起承转合”。全曲统一、完美、形象的表现了孩子们天真、可爱和纯洁的性格。
A Little Bird is a folk song in Taiwan. Its lyrics imitate the chirps and voice the little movements of a small bird, sounding a light piece with much character.
Build on a pentatonic base in even time, this structural piece consists of four 4 bar phrases. It is written in the typical format of A, A’, B, A which starts with the exposition, transits into the development and then the variation, ending with a recapitulation of the first section. Although this piece lies within the range of a compound 2nd, it is complete and sufficient to depict the carefree, delightful nature of children.

骏马奔驰
《骏马奔驰》是大型民族器乐合奏组曲《祖国处处是春天》的一个乐章。《骏马奔驰》则是其中着力描写春天赛马季节牧民们骑马驰聘草原的乐曲。它旋律流畅动听，节奏灵活多变，作者运用乐队合奏的各种表现手段，刻画草原人民勇敢矫健的英雄形象，表达了人们奔向祖国美好未来的坚强信念和决心。
"The Horse" is a movement in the "Spring is Everywhere in my Motherland" Suite. "The Horse" describes the nomad’s horse racing season throughout the grasslands in spring.
The theme melody is varied by different rhythms and changing keys throughout the song. Through this piece, the composer carved heroic images of the people living in the grasslands, reflecting their determination in paving the country’s future.

The Lord of the Dance:
Lord of the dance 的故事基于一个古老的爱尔兰传说, 赤裸裸而真实地呈现人性黑暗与光明的斗争：为了权势、爱情、欲望, 黑暗之王挑战正义之王和他的属民。一场狂野斗争即将展开; 两个女人的爱情争夺即将展开。舞蹈就是武器、舞蹈就是力量，整场演出充满顿挫起伏的肢体,语汇与戏剧张力,将爱尔兰舞蹈带入前所未有的空前高度，赋予观众们一次次珍贵而奇妙的经历。
This version of The Lord of the Dance is a program music for an Irish Legend based story.
It has the theme of battle between good and evil in man. The King of Darkness challenges the King of Justice and his people in a battle for power, love and dreams. A wild battle broke out between two women competing for love, whereby dance, is their weapon and their power. The entire performance is full of ups and downs and drama bringing Irish dancing to greater heights. In this performance, the audience is given a rare and wonderful experience with just the song of the dance.

Fantasy Dance:
Fantasy dance (Song Notes by composer Chew Hee-chiat)
Compelled by the desire to share the unique diversified culture of Malaysia with the rest of the world, I decided to compose Fantasy Dance for PCCO's concert tour to Hong Kong in December 1999.

Inspired by the rhythm of the rebana, one type of ethnic Malay drums, I began to fantasize a dance - of the colorful and exotic Malay culture. Fantasy Dance uses many "augmented seconds", also known as the "Arabian interval" to symbolize Arabian and Islamic influence on Malay music. Rebana and knobbed gong are used to add more "exotic flavour".

Although Fantasy Dance was initially set to emulate Malay culture, I discovered a slightly different result, i.e. Islamic and Arabian influences are more prominent that that of local Malay's. In all cases, Fantasy Dance is my attempt to lure more in-depth cultural interaction among diversified cultures.

幻想舞曲
作曲家为了向外国朋友展示马来西亚的独特多元，创作了这首《幻想舞曲》，并在1999年香港之旅中演出。

从一种马来民族雷班纳鼓的动人节奏中，周氏幻想了一个舞蹈 -- 一个充满马来亚色彩和异域情调及异于传统中乐的舞蹈音乐。它应用许多增二度音程，亦称之为阿拉伯音程来象征着阿拉伯和回教文化对马来音乐的影响。雷班纳古和凸锣的应用更添加了异曲的风味。

虽然创作《幻想舞曲》的原意是竭力效仿马来原意风采，但结果却出人意料，曲子演奏出来的效果显示出阿拉伯和回教的曲风远远超过马来本土风格。无论如何，这首作品是第一次的尝试，希望能诱发更深的多样文化交流。

Well, as you all know, the concert is getting nearer and nearer... BUT do you think you all are READY??? Perhaps you all will think that you are ready to perform, but to me, if you perform like this on the day of concert, NO ONE WILL EVER COME AGAIN... It's true... ESPECIALLY the suo3 na4... This one is specially for the suo3 na4 players, you have to know: you are playing a musical instrument that doesn't need a mic to help you amplify the sound, which means if you cannot hit the notes or play wrong notes, or have your D major sounds like Bb minor, everyone is going to hear that and will laugh at ALL of you even if it's only one of the players' fault... So, PRACTISE MORE AND SERIOUSLY... To some of you (you should know who), how you sit will eventually affect the the effects that are coming out... SO, SIT PROPERLY.

Well, I think that's all for today... Hope that I can see improvement for every practice. Good luck to PMO concert!

2010年 PMO音乐营 - 第二和第三天 =P

heheh, 我这次又用华语了 =P

okay, 第二和第三天的音乐营。我不想说多多。全部人应该对这次的音乐营含有深刻的印象了吧。:)

交流会嘛，还学到不少东东的，校友们都回来了。吹管组还有的欣赏表演 :D 第二天晚上的BBQ，syiok-nya =D. 唯一的问题，我死命在流眼泪T_T BBQ 的烟，全部被吹进眼睛里去，蛮痛的嘛！~ xD 此外，食物是很好吃的。吃完后还有本组的陈俊豪和颜于纬为我们条二人舞。haha~

今天，也就是第三天，我们总共打破了大约五里鸡蛋有吧？haha.... 过后的beat表演/比赛也很爽的。=P

haha... dun 1 2 talk so much. i thk i'll stick to posting in English. hahahha. xD anyways...

Back From Kuan Cheng High School Concert :)

okay 俊豪, its very not nice of u discriminate us lyk dat. xD Speed doesn't matter. Don't say we can't do it. Nothing is impossible for a willing heart. Never say Never. The performance proved it all last night. Proved to us that we can do so much better than them. And we HAVE to. :)

Okay so this is what happened yesterday. During Saturday (yesterday) he zhou, HoongCheong LaoShi said some stuff about expression and guan zhong gong min. Coincidentially we experienced and solemnly understood wad he meant and the same day he said that. WEIRD.

See the thing is, KuanCheng's performance is a very valueable lesson for us all. It'd be good if more ppl went. Lyk the whole PMO. Especially us winds. Good thing most winds went :)

Anyways...

Number1 they have the "shen shou" !!

Number 2 their SuoNa ROCKS man!!!!! N no i dun just mean the Soloist. Yes the soloist was Awesome but their SuoNa Zhu was bloody out of this world as well. OMG they can hit the high notes so nicely! Although there was 1 tiny part whr they screwed up on 音准 but i swear its gonna take us a hell of a lifetym to reach whr they r now. But doesn't mean we cant. Just... we're gonna take a lifetym. i banyak 自卑 T.T and very motivated in a funny sort of way after i've seen their SuoNa. :)

Oh yeah. If any Kuan Cheng ppl ever came to our concert, us who went must be thanked. Part of it happening is our effort. 4 those who don't understand, the Kuan Cheng huayuetuan had a survey. The last part of the survey there, is :　其他意见: ______________________.

So, as 38 as we r always, we decided to 宣传 our concert on that "其它意见" part. xDD

Well, i just want to tell the form 1s something.

This is exactly what my seniors told me and the other form 2s. to appreciate Tan Jie because he is a good teacher. Well, as far as i know, i didn't. Going out at 10.15 for meetings, not staying back to practice because of other things. In conclusion, trying to avoid practicing the flute.

Well, i just hope the form 1s will appreciate this opportunity and target to be like him. if its too high, target the other seniors.

And of course its time for you all to decide on the arrangements for the concert on who will playing what for which songs so that if you want us retirees XD namely Wei Lian, Yi Lynn, Wei Loon or me, Wye Xiang to come back. So decisions decisions! We MIGHT NOT be there to guide you all along anymore so post it up and notify us as we might get busy and wasting time on practising a song that you wont perform is pointless. from wad i believe.... the quality of a product is always set by its creator... in dis case [ er... not saying u guys are prodcts or anythg.... X) ]... how well u guys can play de dizi are based on the people that taught u .... not refering to tan jie ar.. Tan Jie is a very gud teacher... i thk we were not so... if Tan Jie din cum dis year, i wudn't dare imagine whr de F1s wud end up now................

So now...i'm glad that Tan Jie has become a huge motivator in the learning process, but 4rm a point of view.... i feel as if his presence is not properly appreciated... yes skills on dizi playing has improved.... but i feel as if no one is willing to learn or sumthg... especially that particular lian xi during de holidays... wen only 3 ppl came... 3 people.. took THIRTY minutes to open pu jia. if i dun call it outrageous i dunno wad to call it... If u guys bring dat particular attitude to next year, using that same particular way to teach de new batch... sooner or later winds will deteriorate... i dun wanna cum up wiv an example, u can cum up wiv 1 urself...

during de middle of de year, u guys havent started he zhou... k .. nvm .... a little later wun't hurt.. i got a little worried.... but later after dat wen zhuzhang chu exam peices... i saw vast improvement in sum of u, wic i dare say i am very proud of. ;)

like i said b4... m not a gud motivator.... but de new batch is in de hands of de F2s especially wen we have concert next year... F2s will have to take care of yourselves as well... especially wiv de SuoNa! ;D

The latest news for our theory exams..
Erm..
Today's morning, i passed my paper the Yi Lyn and Wei Lian..
They said the papers very very easy..(Coz i think the papers set by chief will be very hard...)
So..
No point if u fail the paper..
All u can do is..
Study the text books and the handout that i have given out..
All the questions from there..(99.99%)

And the form 2..
U all hav to study the 牧民新歌，扬鞭催马运粮忙 and the 姑苏行... Hardy....
(i mean the 简介and the 乐谱..
All these three songs very important..
(all contained very high marks)
Remember ur 筒音作1 to 7...
This friday i will find out and study this with u..

Since ur theory paper is very easy..
So i will become very strict in ur practical and 观摩会..
I m not scaring u all but just want u hav a preparation..
I wont give 同情分，unless u say i m handsome and all that..
Den i will only minus 1 mark from the total..

Hey guys, I hope you do not post sensitive issues right here. It's not nice to complain about anyone in particular if you do not know exactly how are things. I understand how you guys feel, but well just keep it in our hearts. Hey.. After 7 days fighting in wars..
I finally come back..
So sorry as i have left the blog so long and now is the time for me to concentrate to u all..

Erm..
Here is the decision between me and Lian Fong..
Start from next week, i will teach form 2 for 4 days.. that means from Monday to Thursday..
Den he will take care of Form 1 for the same 4 days too..
Den on Friday n Saturday, i will form 1 and Lian Foong will teach the form 2 Suona.. 2 days..

Who is coming on any days den we will practice with him/her..
Coz i noe some of u cannot attend the practice everyday..
I will not force u.. ( see how nice am i )
Nvm.. at least u attend extra a day besides Friday and Saturday..
If i and Lian Foong absent for anytime, den self-practice la..(most properly we wont absent unless we go for trip-after-PMR.. XD
This schedule i will bring it to Chen Jie to check bout it..
If no mistakes, den we will do what we said..

Any problems, complains or better idea can call me anytime..
Dun keep the anger inside, its useless, u wont get any benefit..
Remember, "Kami amalkan adat perpatih"
The purpose by doing so is to improve all the skill together, i can learn something from ur mistake and u will learn from each other at the same time..

《牧民新歌》是以内蒙民歌音调为素材，70年代由简广易创作的一首笛子独奏曲。乐曲的引子，描绘了宽广辽阔的大草原，蓝天白云下，牛羊成群……短暂的离调，使动人的引子又增添了迷人的动力。

内容

1. I wanna confirm ur exams songs..

K.. dun panic.. my require for these song is not strict..

Hey guys this is Mei Zhuen. Well, I'm posting something here because Chun Hoe suggested to me :) ahah. Well, I don't really know what to say right now but your exams (and mine) are coming soon so I wish you all the best of luck and do well especially to those who are taking major exams. Apart from that, I hope we (chui guan zhu) stick together no matter what and do come to me if you have any problems or anything to share, you're more than welcome.

Form 3s, All the best for PMR. See you after that and I hope you guys don't slack alright? (;

Form 2s, Your exams might not be as soon as ours but do your best too okay, and I hope you have started practising your music exam pieces already. Do take it seriously but don't stress.

Form 1s, its been 9 months since you join our big family, I hope you guys are in with us and trust us to the very uttermost. However, I know that the fact you join PMO, you must be people who love music very much, so I hope we put in effort and enjoy music together.

First of all, i hav to thx my form 2, they are Chin How, Ruey Ying, Hong Hong, Yu Ning coz they are helping me to do the decoration.. later i will mention what they have done..

The purpose for having this Windy dot is to let all the winds members to follow our condition time to time..
We have to take care for each other.. And appreciate what we having now..
Just like our school theme.. Care, Honour and Share..

4. U may post some comments, or points thus to improve our groups, blog or teaching skill n so on.. remember, we are democracy, kami amalkan Adat perpatih..( if u dunnu wat is adat perpatih, that means u haven study Sejarah for ur coming exam .. Go and read Sejarah form 1, page 148)XD

5. Erm.. dare to shout.. But give some respect for the ppl u mention.. u may write that person's name as XXX or *** or ppl A, ppl B.. So u may release ur pressure, n the person be mentioned can always self-criticism, think about what wrong hav u did. and promise not to repeat it again..

6. Anyone can be a listener to each other.. Again.. We care, We honour, We share..
